Danish Quality: A Primer

Modern Danish Furniture appeared during Europe’s post war recovery, and quickly evolved into the signature style for modern 20th century home furnishings. As a result of its completely modern yet timeless design, this kind of furniture is still quite popular today.

The eternal attribute of Danish design is quite possibly a result of the simple lines and total absence of artwork which define these furnishings. Other furniture designs like Mission designs have also been identified by functionalism influencing the form, although midcentury Danish design added an additional factor in this design; the human body. In every instance where the surfaces are meant to be touching people, those parts were just barely rounded to accommodate human bodies.
